Scott Hansen, FSCP® serves as Investment Advisor Representative with Encompass Advisory Services, where he helps families make coordinated college and retirement decisions designed to protect long-term financial stability.
For many parents, the college planning process no longer feels straightforward. Rising tuition costs, inconsistent financial aid packages, complex funding decisions, and concerns about retirement security have turned college into one of the largest financial decisions a family will make. As college funding rules, financial aid formulas, tax laws, and retirement planning considerations continue to evolve, Scott helps families navigate an increasingly complex financial environment with greater clarity, structure, and long-term perspective.
Through the Strategic College Blueprint™, Scott helps families evaluate the true impact of college admissions decisions, understand financial aid and merit positioning opportunities, compare competing offers, and coordinate college funding decisions within the broader context of retirement and wealth planning. His approach is designed to help families avoid financially damaging decisions, reduce unnecessary borrowing exposure, and better understand the long-term tradeoffs that often get overlooked during the admissions process.
Many of the families Scott works with are financially responsible, highly involved parents who have spent years building careers, saving diligently, and planning carefully for the future. While they often earn strong incomes, they also recognize that college pricing has become increasingly murky and difficult to navigate strategically. Scott believes families deserve more than generic advice or transactional planning. They deserve coordinated guidance that helps them make informed decisions without compromising long-term financial flexibility or retirement goals.
Scott began his career as a Financial Advisor in 2002 after studying economics with a concentration in finance. Over the course of his career, he has worked with educators, military families, business owners, and pre-retirees on retirement planning, investment strategy, and long-term financial planning. That experience gives him a broader perspective on how major financial decisions — particularly college funding decisions — can impact retirement timing, future cash flow, and overall family financial health if not approached strategically.
Scott currently holds the FINRA Series 65 registration and earned the Financial Services Certified Professional® (FSCP®) designation through The American College of Financial Services.
Families appreciate Scott’s calm, analytical, and practical approach to decision-making. His philosophy is grounded in the belief that important financial decisions should be approached thoughtfully, coordinated carefully, and evaluated through the lens of long-term consequences rather than short-term pressure or emotion.
Scott is married to Kristie, and together they have four children: Michael, Christian, Isabel, and Faith. Outside of work, he serves as Youth Director and Coach for Barbarians Rugby Club, where his children compete and where he helps mentor young athletes and families within the rugby community. Rugby has remained an important part of his life for many years, including opportunities to travel internationally and experience the cultures and communities that support the sport around the world.
